You’ll need more than one look at this Club C from Reebok and Maison Margiela . What seems to be conventional panelling is in fact not. The lines and toe box perforations are all drawn on to create an optical illusion that’s meant to deceive. It’s a nod to both the trompe l’oeil art technique the Parisian house’s couture background, with the chalk-like graphics reminiscent of tailoring marks. The iconic Union Jack branding is still present on the sidewall — though it’s drawn on, too — and is joined by Margiela signatures on both the heel and tongue.
