US sneaker retailer Commonwealth celebrate the opening of its recent flagship store in Manila with a special edition launch of ASICS Gel-Lyte V. Inspired by the Kalinga - an ethnic group in the Philippines who inhabit the mountains of Luzon – the retro sneaker celebrates the mountainous terrain and warrior-culture of the people with earthy uppers and unique tribal artwork displayed on the tongue and collar. Preserving the Filipino culture through the collaboration, the tanned nubuck uppers are characterised by the geometric shapes and references to nature, fitted with leather overlays and mesh underlays. Additional details include tonal stripes on the lateral side and navy stripes adorning the medial side.
