Sustainability is the predominant idea behind Nike's groundbreaking collaboration with Miniwiz CEO and renowned architect Arthur Huang. Together the two forces look to alter our perception of what constitutes waste, creating the Air Max 1 Flyknit Royal from a robust rendition of Nike's innovative Flyknit technology. The shoe's upper is flanked by a series of synthetic overlays, with the visible Air Unit to the sole delivering the cushioning the silhouette is famed for. Huang's influence is felt heavily through the radical overhaul of the traditional Nike packaging. Dispensing with the traditional cardboard box, the shoe is delivered in a box created from recycled plastics with its space-saving design allowing it to be easily stacked together. Pushing the idea even further, Huang's design allows for the packaging to be converted into a backpack. Nothing is disposable.
