Aimé Leon Dore’s founder – Teddy Santis – has taken over New Balance’s premium Made in USA sub-line, causing waves throughout the sneaker world. And for his first official collection, the designer is reimagining a capsule of the brand’s best-selling silhouettes – including this take on the 990v1 – through his creative lens. The uppers are crafted from mesh, then overlaid with accents of shaggy grey suede that gives the shoe a lived-in feel. Signature style codes make an appearance, too, in the form of an ‘N’ logo at the side wall and a brand tag on the tongue, while incense yellow hits at the laces and heel drive home the vintage-inspired look.
